Air guitar, mash potatoes, and an inner-campus pigskin thumping
Two Wednesday’s back, Mars Hill Youth started on the Eastside. Students from the likes of Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell, Bellevue, Issaquah, Woodinville, and even Duvall were in attendance for that inaugural evening one full of sloppy joes, Bible teaching, and some good ol’ fashion rockin’ out air guitar style as seen here below.

What’s proceeded from that day has matched in excitement and exhilaration. Last Wednesday, the first ever Turkey Olympics contained a clutch performance in whole chicken bowling, a three-way tie leading into a playoff round of bobbing for string beans in eggnog, some cheating and tomfoolery in the pie eating contest, and a mess of epic proportions in the mash potato relay. All of it cultivating in a victory for the “Platypi”, aka Luke French, Buck Rivard, and Levi Pocza’s team.
All this friendly competition prepared us for another first the first ever inner-campus, Thanksgiving Day Turkey Football Game of which the Eastside (despite being the youngest and smallest in stature of the teams) inevitably prevailed victorious on the fields on Ingraham High School over Ballard, Shoreline, and West Seattle. A trophy was created for just such an occasion of inner-campus competitions, and at least until the Winter Trip to Leavenworth, it will remain on the Eastside. Not to mention, home field advantage was at stake meaning, next year, we’ll see you all at Marymoor Park.
Tomorrow will be our three-week-old birthday. I’d be hard bent to say something exciting isn’t in store. So, we’ll see you there.
