Sent to share the truth

Last Sunday, Jake Chambers, and his wife Lindsey, were introduced to the Bellevue campus. They are preparing to leave behind their life here on the Eastside on August 2nd, and take up the cross to help church planting in San Diego.  I’m excited and encouraged by his example, and urge everyone to send their support and prayers.

Here is a note from Jake:

Hi Mars Hill Church-

I am excited to share with you that God is calling Lindsey and I to head south to San Diego to help in planting a church across the street from San Diego State University. We will be partnering with an established Acts 29 church called Kaleo to proclaim the great truth of who Jesus is and what he has done to a campus with a party reputation and to families in the surrounding neighborhoods that may feel more bitterness than compassion for that school.  SDSU has nearly thirty-five thousand students in attendance making it the largest university in San Diego and the fifth largest in California. In recent years it has made national news for seeing 75 students arrested in a major drug bust and for having the highest STD rate among women per capita of any school in the nation. This campus, neighborhood and city is much like us in that is broken and in desperate need of Jesus Christ.

Lindsey and I are sad to be leaving our Mars Hill family, but we are abundantly thankful that it has always been a family to us. We thank you so much for your friendship, prayers, honesty and gospel partnership over the years. We praise Jesus for the many times He has shown us His grace through His church.

As we head to San Diego, we are leaving without a salary and will be raising support for the first two years with the goal of having Kaleo SDSU be a self supporting church by year three. We are not leaving for San Diego until August and would love to talk to you more about our calling, plans, and prayer needs. If you would like to meet with me, or get behind us with prayer or support, please contact me at jake@kaleochurch.com.

Support can be sent to:
Kaleo Church att: SDSU
2707 Congress St., Suite 2K
San Diego, California 92110

Checks can be written to “Kaleo Church” with “Kaleo Church SDSU” in the memo.

Thanks so much!
Jake Chambers

Generous Campaign: Supporting Mars Hill Bellevue

Mars Hill Bellevue is helping kick off a church-wide effort to raise funds for a number of local ministry needs and our global effort to see as many churches and disciples of Jesus as possible. Why? Because God has been generous to us. By donating above and beyond regular church giving, we have a unique opportunity to start the new year strong and gain some ground in our mission to share Jesus with the world.
