Deacon Thomas Hurst

Name: Thomas Hurst

Role at Mars Hill: Operations Director

First step foot at Mars Hill: My first steps into MH came when I was given an assignment by the newspaper I was working for to photograph a young pastor by the name of Mark Driscoll…it wasn’t long after, that I became a Christian.

Where were you before MH Bellevue? Before Bellevue we were at Shoreline and prior to that, Ballard.

How did you end up on the Eastside? A good friend of mine suggested I take a look at the job description for the Operations Director position; I glanced over it, but didn’t give it much thought. That same friend called me back a few days later and asked me what I thought, when I told him I wasn’t sure about it, he encouraged me to at least talk with Pastor Jesse. After a phone interview with Jesse and visiting the Bellevue campus I felt God calling me to walk through the doors He was opening before me. Eventually I was offered the opportunity to come to the Bellevue campus in this new role.

Favorite Verse: James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
